We personally loved the spacious cabins, the cute rocking chairs on deck and the friendliness of the crew. As long as you're aware of the demographic onboard and don't mind a less active vacation, American Splendor can provide an excellent experience. That's partly because the company has an all-American crew, with college kids making up the steward and deckhand staff.

We saw very few brand names on our cruise, and little bling. Daytime wear is comfortable for tours, with collared shirts and shorts for men, and capris and T-shirts for women. Nighttime is equally casual, with most women wearing a nice blouse and slacks or a dress, and men wearing collared shirts and slacks.
We are regularly recognized throughout the industry for our new riverboats and small ships, exclusive U.S. itineraries, enrichment programs, and personalized service. I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. All the people working on the cruise were helpful and wonderful to interact with.
Our first time doing a River Cruise we had an amazing time. Staff and crew members were wonderful always around to answer any questions and concerns. Excursions were interesting and some were great fun beautiful views from boat ready to go again in fall.
Also we had to change our return flight from Tampa to Miami, a much bigger and more difficult airport to negotiate when you have mobility problems. My husband and I just completed our 3rd cruise with American Cruise Lines and booked a 4th while on board. The staff consistently goes above and beyond to make the entire experience a memorable one. We celebrated both my birthday and our anniversary while on our cruise and the staff made both very special events for us.
I was hoping for some southern grits on this cruise, and my wish was granted on our very first meal. So many great people - Kaleel and Isabella as food servers; cruise director Nicky; the Great Gray excursion director; David and Lennon in the Sky Deck lounge to name a few. But all that doesn't negate what the line does right. The enrichment on the ship is first-class, with an enthusiastic river historian who could make even the driest subject riveting. The entertainment is on point for the audience, with musical acts and comedians brought in from New Orleans, Vicksburg and other stops along the river. Don't expect much rock music -- this is an audience that better knows the words to "Old Man River" than "Proud Mary" -- and you'll be fine.

Cunard is one of the oldest and most iconic names in the cruise industry, with a storied past that stretches back to 1839. Its roots are seeped in tradition, heritage, and timeless elegance, all of which come forth during its cruises.

Sous chef Kia did come up with some wonderful vegetarian options, but she wasn't there every day. Our cruise -- the first with American Cruise Lines -- was last September between Memphis and New Orleans. We were very impressed by the ship, the cruise, the staff, the tours, the varied and top-notch evening entertainment, the great fellow who did a daily history/nature report, the food. This was our first cruise with American Cruise Lines, and it exceeded our expectations in every way.
